Finances for carers

Being a carer can impose financial challenges. There are a number of payment options for which you may be eligible.

Carer subsidy financial services

Information on accessing the Carer Allowance, Carer Supplement and Carer Payment. Terms and eligibility criteria apply.

Companion Card

A website where you can register for a Companion Card. Cardholders are entitled to a free second 'companion' ticket at participating events and on public transportation. A companion is defined as somebody who travels with a cardholder and offers care support. Terms and eligibility criteria apply.

Carer Business Discount Card

Information on the Queensland Government's Caregiver Business Discount Card, which supports caregivers by offering discounts on goods and services to participating businesses in Queensland. Terms and eligibility criteria apply.

Carer directed support service

Information on accessing this service for support in your caring role. You can either access one-off assistance of up to $1500 to purchase small asset goods that will assist you in further education, or you can access a package, which includes a variety of assistance valued at $3000 over a 12-month period.
